Cooperatively managed by The City of Bellingham and Western Washington University. The Arboretum is bounded by Western Washington University and residential neighborhoods of Bellingham. The Arboretum is home to a diverse collection of native plants and animals. The Arboretum has several miles of trails over varied terrain and an observation tower with views of Bellingham and the surrounding area.

A ten-member Board of Governors manages the Arboretum in accordance with sound ecological methods and concepts to preserve the unique educational, research, aesthetic, and recreational opportunities. The Board of Governors meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month. Additional meetings are occasionally scheduled as needed and regular meetings are occasionally canceled. Meetings are held in the WWU Physical Plant, 915 26 th St., from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Meetings are open to the public and the facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.
